Online Coupon Secrets: Using An Online Coupon In A Retail Store

With internet marketing being all the rage, more and more traditional stores have outlets online too. Interestingly, while you may be able to use online coupons to get some fabulous discounts when you buy online, you may not be able to avail of the any discount when you walk into the actual store.

Also, while you can use online coupons only at online stores, you can use special store discounts at both, physical stores as well as online stores. This is primarily because businesses are trying to lure customers into going and checking out their websites and seeing how simple and convenient it is to shop online at their site.

There are but a few handfuls of stores that will actually accept online coupons even in their physical stores. Very often, people try and go to the store's website and print out the online coupon in the mistaken notion that they could actually use it when they visit the store. However, this is an exercise in futility as every coupon features a bar code without which the discount cannot be scanned. When you print a coupon from the internet, though the coupon may look genuine, the barcode is absent and it will not be accepted at check out.

A few businesses do give their employees the additional benefit of using online coupons at the company's physical stores. If you wanted to find out how this works you could always find the necessary information from customer service groups that you will see at the physical store.

You may sometimes come across some businesses that allow you to use online coupons found on their site for use in their physical store. This is more common with supermarkets, the reason being that different product manufacturers who sell their products at the supermarket give their buyers the special benefit of downloading their online coupons and using it at any grocery store.

Department stores cannot really afford to offer their customers these discounts because of the exclusivity of certain brands that are very selective about their outlets. They would almost certainly end up losing money if they allowed customers to use online coupons at their stores.

If you went on to the internet you'd find a whole lot of websites offering special discounts that are exclusively for supermarkets. Coolsavings.com, supermarket.com and smartsource.com are three of the most popular of all these sites. What's more they are absolutely legal. They work in tandem with manufacturers and can hence allow customers to use their online coupons in all of their supermarkets.

If you want to use online coupons, is a good idea to figure out the dynamics of different stores and their rules and regulations regarding the use of these online coupons. Used correctly, these coupons could help you get huge savings but used incorrectly it could mean lots of heartache and angst.
